Pina's Nest - A Blog for Cooking and such

a little rat on a skateboard wawa!

Hi welcome to my little food blog :) it is currently work in progress but I am planning on creating a little online space where I can talk about going cafés and restaurants I have been to as well as my own cooking. This idea originated from my frustrations of a certain popular reviewing platform deleting semi-negative reviews which really ruined the reviewing experience for me personally (not like the actual reviews ever really mattered much since the photos have always been more telling but killing the sample sizes still sucks)

About me!

I am a student from an (easy to guess) European country! I have loved cooking, trying out different foods and content involving it since I was a little kid. I come from a pretty humble background which will probably not improve in the near future, so eating out has always been this kind of luxury to me that I looked forward to. Now that I'm older and have my own income I don't really feel engaged to spend it on shopping and stuff, so instead I like to treat myself every now and then. It's good for your mental health! I started cooking more seriously when I was around 12 or 13, before that I would very rarely help out my mom and grandma with prep during festivities, but at some point I started cooking for myself as I couldn't stand eating the same things over and over. I also experimented with Japanese cooking early (although coming from a small area we didn't have good access to ingredients x.x) and encountered many failures, but I kept at it and now feel confident with the preparation of a many dishes. Baking.... not so much. But I'm working on that too :D

Hmm.. maybe i should talk about foods I like. I'm honestly really open to try most things, my starting point it European food (Specifically Western European and Slavic hehe) since that is what I am most familiar with, it's kinda always a safe option to fall back to, because it reminds you of home! Potato dumplings are so dear to me... another cuisine i adore is East Asian! I've been into Japanese and Korean Food for the longest time but also try to mess around with Chinese, but the latter is very hard to source ingredients for and make sometimes o.o. I want to also mess around a lot more with West Asian, African and Latin-American cuisine so much more because these places are so huge with so much tasty potential stuff but sometimes living in Europe is annoying when you dont manage to access these things as easily as somewhere else T.T
